PEAC-seq | A new approach for evaluating the safety of gene editing

On December 12, 2022, members of the founding team of Westlake Genetech published a paper entitled "PEAC-seq adopts Prime Editor to detect CRISPR off-target and DNA translocation" online in Nature Communications. PEAC-seq provides a new Cas9 gene editing off-target site detection strategy, proved to be safe and accurate in identifying off-target sites in both in vitro cultured cells and in vivo zygotes. More importantly, PEAC-seq provides a solution for identifying chromosomal translocations caused by gene editing. As more and more gene therapy clinical trials adopt gene editing technology, the previously overlooked phenomenon of chromosomal translocation needs to be analyzed in greater depth with the support of data generated by sensitive detection methods.
